Do you have your dog with you on the hike in the mountains? Then you may have heard of restraining orders in certain areas. The hiking areas in Vinje are among them. And the restraining order has its own very special reasons.
Rauland, like other villages in Vinje, has beautiful natural areas to explore for both two- and four-legged friends. Unfortunately, they have had to introduce compulsory leashing after seeing the consequences of loose dogs in the mountains.
Rauland has many important grazing areas for sheep, and is also an excellent place for birds and baby birds that have their nests on the ground. Roe deer calves can often also be left alone for a while while the mother grazes and are exposed to being frightened.
That's why we want everyone to keep their dogs on a leash when they travel in the mountains!
Good trip!
