This is a sculpture walk that offers both views and insight! On top of Vierlinow enthrones the sculpture Vidsyn.
The sculpture, which was created by the artist Hilde Mæhlum, is meant to be a source of joy and wonder for people living and traveling.
The polished front of the sculpture is actually reversed! The nose goes in! From our first year, the brain has learned that people's noses go outwards and that the eyes are inwards. But if you walk a stump away, relax and squint your eyes, then your brain takes over and corrects that rank. The nose comes out and your brain has created the sensible version of the sculpture - inside you! And perhaps even weirder: if you walk by slowly and look at the sculpture the whole time, he follows you with his eyes. If you stand to the east of the sculpture he looks east, if you stand to the west he looks west! His name is thus "Vidsyn" rightly.
Tour description
The trip starts at Vierli Cafeteria at the underpass under the county road. Follow the marked hiking trail to the top of Vierlithe nut (1100 m above sea level). Here you will find the sculpture Vidsyn. Follow the path further over the ridge towards Oksatjønn. The trail is partly prepared with gravel and turns into a dry path. There are some marshy areas along the way with clods. The path is well marked and can be extended by walking the Silkeldalen circuit (4 km).
