Rauland Høgfjellshotell have a moose safari this summer - read more!
The moose is the forest's largest mammal with a shoulder height of up to 2,3 metres. The moose can be 2,5 - 3,2 meters long, while the moose cow is somewhat smaller. The elk prefers to stay alone, and is particularly active in the gray light and dusk.
In the Rauland/Øyfjell area, you can spot both moose, roe deer, hare, deer and beaver, but in some areas the moose is especially present. It is not at all unusual to come across several moose during an excursion.
