About Ridderhus

The collections of RIDDERHUS are inspired by legends, myths and symbols from Norwegian folk culture. Each collection has its own little story that gives the jewelery an extra dimension.

- I simply make jewelery that I could imagine myself wearing and let quality, durability and aesthetics go hand in hand. They tend to have a clean and stylized expression, which makes them durable in everyday life, as well as elegant in company.

Hand with silver ring holds an open book; gold pendant on chain lies on top.

Rauland is a valuable hub for traditional crafts in Norway, and Marie Ridderhus has a Bachelor in Traditional Art with an emphasis on metal from Telemark University College (now the University of Southeast Norway), Rauland department.

- There are both advantages and disadvantages to setting up in a small place like Rauland. The advantages are without a doubt that you don't have to be distracted by all the impulses from the city, and you can work purposefully. You are perhaps better able to stick to your own form expression when you are a little outside the latest fashion impulses. You get to know your colleagues on a more personal level.

The disadvantages are that you are further from fairs and events that are worth attending. You are alone a lot, and may not keep yourself as sharp as competing industries. It is not as easy to create new contacts.

In her small workshop, she produces silver jewelery with a passion for silversmithing.

Silver jewelry with decorative details: hearts, keys and animals, against a dark background for elegant contrast.
