About the calligraphy section:

The run-up to Christmas is the time of year when I still take out pen and paper and send some Christmas cards. The vast majority of them at least write some names on the packing slips. In our digital typing workday, I occasionally need to stop and spend a little more time on our handwriting. On the course, you will get an introduction to calligraphy techniques that you can use in the pre-Christmas decorations. With inspiration from the italic script, I make paper parcels, Christmas cards and Christmas decorations. We practice writing with a felt pen and learn how to use the pen to make various borders and simple ornaments. There will also be an opportunity to print simple motifs with stamp blocks that the course organizer has made available for printing on Christmas cards, parcels and wrapping paper. You do not need to know anything about calligraphy beforehand to benefit from the course.

About the embroidery part:

In the hectic run-up to Christmas, it can be good to set aside some time to create something lasting, and a needlework is a good change from a busy weekday. On the course we sew and embroider hearts, baskets and other Christmas decorations. With inspiration from old ornaments and the soft curves of calligraphy, we create new ornaments that can be enjoyed for many years. The work itself is in wool, but we use embroidery thread in wool and silk, pearls and sequins

You do not need to be able to embroider to attend the course, it will be a basic introduction to various techniques.

Content/schedule:

Teaching time
Thursday 1900-2100. First general information in the Vesaassalen, then the course starts in the workshop.
Friday and Saturday: course 0830-1600. Sunday: course 0830-1500. Lunch break 1200-1245

Study material:

Material package for calligraphy costs approx. NOK 350. The package contains: calligraphy pen w/different splits, pattern sheet, colored and white paper in different gram weights, glue stick, hobby knife, blending brush, finer brush, double-sided tape and printing ink and tempera ink that you use on the course.

Bring scissors, a ruler and a basket or box to keep your work in.

Material package for the embroidery part. Teachers have material packages which cost NOK 350 and contain signed woolen fabric, embroidery thread in wool / silk, needle and thread for sewing together.

You need to bring fabric scissors and something to write on and with.

We pay attention to:

• Through the Swedish Association for Culture and Tradition, this course is covered by the Kopinor Agreement, which allowed copying from books and printed matter for teaching purposes.

• We expect participants to follow the safety instructions from the course organizer and course instructor. Course participants are not covered by insurance from the organizer.

Form of work: Joint teaching and individual guidance.
