A biography of the artist Sveinung Svalastoga (1881 – 1938).
Growing up at Svalastoga, Nesland, iRauland,
Educated at Harald Brun's School of Painting and the Royal Drawing School, Oslo, 1904-05, and
NN Dorph's painting school, Copenhagen, 1909-10
He settled in Rauland with his family, and worked mostly in Vest-Telemark and some in Kragerø.
In addition to many portraits and landscapes, he is known for wall painting with a dream quince motif in the "Draumkvedesalen" in Rauland's old municipal building, and decoration of Møsstrond church. He painted the altarpiece for Tuddal church, and decorated the fireplace in the residence of the county governor in Skien.
The childhood home is richly decorated on the inside with religious motifs, and on the outside with beautifully sculpted gable posts on several buildings.
The book has been sold out for a long time, but there is great demand, and Rauland Historielag is working on arrangements for new reprints
