Local history and cultural heritage have been important in creating the local community you live in, or have a connection to. The great cultural history writing has often dealt with national events, wars and major changes. In local history, one has the opportunity to get closer to local everyday life.

In its work, Rauland Historielag uses local knowledge and people to gather information. This can be about places, events and people. This is work that can lead to new knowledge that is important both for the field of history and local history.
