In 2006, it was 50 years since the development of the waterway in Øvre Telemark started. Rauland Historielag also wanted to take part in the celebration and chose the Bitdal mountain valley and the watercourse development there as the theme for the 2006 annual report.
There was a dispute about the damming of this fine grazing valley. It was an extension, but the developer has done his best to make arrangements, with a road along the lake, access for boats and plastering of the dam and the surrounding area to reduce the encroachment on nature.
Much of the valley's history is now hidden under water. This book will take care of that history, so that the valley is hidden, but not forgotten.
The authors have been Birger Kjelingtveit, Øystein Kostveit and Johan Vaa.
The book is now sold out.
