Yearbook 2005

In Rauland, as in other villages, there are traces and memories of old squares in villages and outback. Year after year they grow again, the forest takes back cultivated land and covers tufts and stone piles. In the end, forgetfulness grows over. But here there have been people, small-scale people who have always struggled to make ends meet and a large family. They moved from town to town in the hope of a better life, but poverty accompanied the load. There are still people who can tell and who remember. But the time has come to gather this knowledge. This is the subject of Rauland Historielag's annual report for 2005.
The book has 238 pages and deals with nearly 90 former homesteads and the families who lived here, - from Songa, in the hamlets along Totak, - Arabygdi, Raulandsgrend, Haddland, Austbø, Nesland, Skålestrondi and Kostveit. The book is hardbound and has many pictures, both in color and black and white. Contributors to the creation of the book have been: Jon Kostveit, Solveig Loftsgarden, Helga Landsverk, Birgit Landsverk, Åsta Østmoe Kostveit, Øystein Kostveit, Herman Henriksveen and Tone Liv Kjelingtveit.

The book is printed by Grenland Reklame a/s.
