Olav Fastøyl was born on the Flatastaul homestead in Rauland, and spent his whole life there. The last 40 years alone.

Those who live close to nature and in solitude learn to see and hear, and to think about life. Olav Flatastøyl had the ability to convey this to others. All his life he wrote poems, against injustice and oppression, and about nature's great creative power.

In 1979, a collection of his poems was published by Tiden forlag, "Orm i urd".

This new collection includes poems from "Orm i urd", but also many other poems, plus a bit about his life and poetry.
