He came as a small boy to the farm Kjos in Åmotsdal as a juror. He learned a lot about fiddle playing from Jon Kjos and when the villagers met at Dansarsteinen, the young Myllarguten was the fiddle player.

Myllar outlet road

The idea behind creating the Myllargut Road is that much of Myllarguten's life is connected to the villages through which this road passes.

Myllarguten

Torgeir Augundsson (baptized November 1 1801 in Sauherad, dead November 21 1872 in Rauland), better known as "Myllarguten», was legendary fiddler from Sauherad i Telemark. Local pronunciation of the name is "Tarjei"

Concerts with Ole Bull

Augundsson was married to Ingeber Rikardsdotter Haugen from Edland and then lived in a place called Rispehaugen. He bought Øygarden with money he spent on the concerts he had together with Ole Bull.

After a while he had to leave this farm and then moved to the homestead Kosi in Arabygdi where he died. That's what I now call Myllarheimen.

They are both buried at Rauland church.

Myllargutvegen is beautiful for those who come by car, but perhaps especially for those on bicycles!
