Cajun Trio – Jesse Lége, Joel Savoy and Jo Vidrine

Traditional Cajun-French music from Southwest Louisiana.
Jesse and Joel make music full of surprises and joy. Together they play traditional Cajun-French music from the prairies of southwest Louisiana. Here the generations come together, young and old, every evening to celebrate their lively culture with dance, social gatherings and fun.
Jesse Lége is deeply rooted in Cajun music. In his childhood home near Gueydan, Louisiana, they had no electricity. Here, Jesse spoke Cajun French and learned music from fellow villagers, neighbors and the much-loved battery radio the family had. Today he is one of the most valued accordion players and vocalists within the Cajun tradition, in fact from a global perspective. He is particularly known for his high, clear, "crying" song. In 1998 he was inducted into the Cajun Music Hall of Fame.
Joel Savoy is the son of Cajun music legends Marc and Ann Savoy and founder of the Louisiana-based record company Valcour Records. He has literally grown up at the feet of many Cajun heroes who often came to joke and jam with his parents. Joel is a GRAMMY-winning recording engineer and record producer. Joel recently served as Artistic Director of the prestigious Festival of American Fiddle Tunes. He is a versatile fiddle player and guitarist, and he has played and taught music around the world for the past 20 years.
Jo Vidrine hosts Jesse and Joel for the first time in Europe. He also comes from southwest Louisiana. Jo is a master musician, photographer and cook. He is known as "The Freelance Cajun," and plays a large and versatile role in the Acadiana community where he is in a number of bands and has a hand in just about everything that is culturally relevant today. Jo is currently program manager for Balfa Week at Louisiana Folk Roots, an organization dedicated to preserving and passing on Acadian indigenous cultures.
